Project Overview: Turning a Home Into a Smart Space

The client heard about us from one of their friends and reached out via WhatsApp. They wanted to add smart lighting to the house they had been living in for four years.

During our first visit, we discussed the devices needed for smart lighting. We also agreed to add sensors for doors and windows, as well as motion sensors, for added security and comfort.

Smart Light Switches: Easy Control and Flexibility

The main priority was replacing the standard light switches with smart light switches. These switches could be controlled from anywhere while still allowing manual control.

After reviewing the electrical installation, we were happy to inform the client that the lighting included neutral wires on the switches. This meant they could choose from any smart light switches on the market, without needing to rewire the house. However, one switch didn’t have a neutral wire. To keep costs down, rewiring the switch was not feasible. We selected a similar switch from a different manufacturer that didn’t require a neutral wire.

Energy Efficiency Through Home Automations

As with most of our projects, the client learned about the energy savings that come with a smart home. They agreed to include home automations for energy efficiency. These automations would switch off lights and appliances that weren’t being used. Additionally, the entire house would automatically turn off while they were away or on holiday.

Saving on Energy Bills with Smart Technology

Our platform also keeps the client updated on the current electricity price. It shows the cheapest times of day for their electricity tariff. This way, they could run the dishwasher, washing machine, and other appliances at the most efficient times. As a result, their electricity bill decreased by 31%.

Complete Control with a Single App and 3D Floor Plan

To give the client more control over their smart home, we integrated all the devices into a single mobile application. We also created an interactive 3D Floor Plan of their house. This allowed them to check device status and interact with everything from one place, no matter where they were in the world.

Integrating Existing Smart Devices for Full Automation

We also integrated their existing Ring doorbell, Ring camera, Ring alarm, and Ring sensors into our platform, along with a smart blind.
